Baccarat is a card game that involves betting on player (Punto) or banker (Banco), which is why the game is also known as Punto Banco. The game requires player to bet on Player, Banker or Tie options.
This card game is played around 6 to 8 card decks and has lot of similarities with Blackjack, as here also player and dealer are dealt with two cards. The objective is to bet on the hand that gets a value of 8 or 9 or closer to it. Player can also bet on a Tie wins if both Banco and Punto gets the same hand value, but Tie is a raster chance and thus not many people bet on it.
While both the player and dealer are dealt with two cards each, a third card can be withdrawn based on the total of the first two cards. player is dealt with a third card when the total of first two cards is less than 5, whereas the third card rule for dealer is based on the total of first two card of the player. The game is all about betting on the hand that has higher total.
Cards from aces to 9 are counted as their own value, whereas cards like ten, Jack, Queen and King are taken as zero. Here suits are of no value and only single digit card total is considered, thus if a card totals is 12 it is subtracted from 10 and considered as two.
When player or banker gets a total of 8 or 9 on the first two cards it is called Natural Hand and the hand wins instantly.
